Premier League football has finally and thankfully returned - and on Merseyside it is particularly back with a bang. As games go around here, there is not one bigger than the derby and tonight Liverpool welcome Everton to Anfield (8pm kick-off).
Victory for the Reds would move them closer to the Premier League title while a win or even a draw for the Blues would edge them towards the mathematical safety David Moyes desires.
In reality, Everton are effectively safe following a nine-game unbeaten run that includes the 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park in February.

That result felt like a defeat for Liverpool given the equalising goal they conceded came deep into stoppage-time. The runaway leaders, then, will no doubt be determined to get one over their rivals and bounce back from a damaging week before the international break that saw them exit the Champions League and lose the Carabao Cup final.
So how are the respective squads looking ahead of this evening's encounter? Both teams certainly have two players missing each.
Joe Gomez was pictured back on the grass this week after after missing much of the last three months with a hamstring injury but he will play no part tonight for the Reds. Neither will Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Definitely out for the Blues are midfielder Orel Mangala and striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin who, like Gomez, is now back on the grass if not training with his team-mates.
So that's four players missing. There are also doubts over another four.

Conor Bradley is back in training for Liverpool and would be the best fit at right-back with Alexander-Arnold and Gomez sidelined. But having been out for six weeks, Reds boss Arne Slot may not risk the youngster.
Slot's opposite number David Moyes could be in the same boat with wingers Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye, who are both back in training after injuries. Vitalii Mykolenko, meanwhile, was injured playing for Ukraine and, while the issue hasn't prevented him training on his return to Everton, there will be a late check needed.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, defender Ibrahima Konate and midfielder Ryan Gravenberch also provided injury scares while away with their countries but they are all expected to be fit along with young midfielder Tyler Morton.
