Jarell Quansah wants to leave Liverpool to join Newcastle United in the summer in search of more regular first-team football away from Anfield.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 22-year-old wants to make the best decision for his career.
Liverpool are planning to sign a new centre-back this summer amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Virgil van Dijk, who is out of contract in June.
Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is one of Liverpool’s targets, while Arne Slot is an admirer of Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen after his impressive season at the Vitality Stadium.
The position has become a priority for the boss who will look to strengthen his squad after a successful first season in English football.
However, Football Insider revealed Liverpool are not keen to lose Quansah in the near future and he remains under contract at Anfield until 2029.

Liverpool reluctant to agree permanent Jarell Quansah deal with Newcastle
Brown told Football Insider on 10 March that Liverpool could let Quansah leave on loan, as they feel he has yet to realise his full potential at the club.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that playing regular first-team football will be crucial for his development.
“His chances are going to be limited at Liverpool,” he told Football Insider.
“I picked Quansah out when he was in the youth team and I always thought he had the makings of becoming a top player.
“He’s got to a certain level in his career, but now I think he needs to push on again.
“To do that, he’s got to be playing football at the top level.
“With the options they’ve got at Liverpool at the moment, it doesn’t look like he’ll be a regular any time soon, especially while they’re looking to sign new players there.
“So if he’s got the opportunity to go and play for Newcastle, I hear he wants to do that.
“He knows what’s best for his career, and at this stage is being able to play every week.
*“It would be a tremendous move for him and for Newcastle, they’d be picking up a very promising young player if they could get it over the line.*“

Virgil van Dijk contract update emerges after latest talks
Talk about Quansah’s future and potential incoming centre-backs comes amid the ongoing uncertainty about Van Dijk’s contract situation.
Football Insider revealed on 1 April that Liverpool are concerned about Van Dijk’s age after a delay in agreeing terms due to a disagreement about the contract length.
The Netherlands international will be 34 by the time the 2025-26 campaign gets underway, but is pushing to be handed a multi-year contract to keep him at Anfield.
Liverpool remain determined to agree new terms with their captain alongside Mohamed Salah, as Trent Alexander-Arnold looks set to join Real Madrid.
