Report: Chelsea’s rivals could now copy one Todd Boehly trick all thanks to Premier League vote last June

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have been quite controversial owners since arriving at Chelsea three years ago.

They have sold hotels to themselves to help Chelsea stay in line with PSR, while the pair have also given out some extremely long contracts to signings.

Boehly and Eghbali have sacked two managers as well, dismissing Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, and allowed Mauricio Pochettino to leave the club by mutual consent.

Despite all of the controversy, though, it looks like some Premier League clubs could now be about to copy the two Chelsea owners.

Chelsea’s Premier League rivals could sell women’s team

Boehly’s Chelsea project was recently praised by one agent, with the American clearly having some admirers.

In fact, according to The Telegraph, some of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals may now try and replicate one of his tricks.

Chelsea, in effect, sold their women’s side to themselves last year, which helped them to comply with PSR. And now a report from The Telegraph says others in England could do the same thing with there not being enough votes at the Premier League’s AGM last June to prevent clubs from selling assets to themselves.

The above is just one loophole that Chelsea’s owners have fully exploited since arriving in west London.

Chelsea set to make ‘major acquisition’

This summer could be another exciting one for Chelsea. It is already being reported that Chelsea believe they can make a “major acquisition” ahead of the 2025/26 season.

That acquisition could be a new striker, with the club being heavily linked with the likes of Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.

Chelsea almost signed Osimhen last summer, but a deal fell through after the two parties failed to agree on personal terms.

It is a deal the Blues will regret not doing, with Osimhen on fire this season. He has scored 26 goals in 31 appearances during his loan spell at Galatasaray.
