Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic Makes NBA History in Timberwolves Game

The Denver Nuggets suffered a brutal 140-139 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, despite a historic game from Nikola Jokic.

The MVP candidate finished the double-overtime matchup with 61 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, knocking down six three-pointers in the process of achieving his career-high.

Jokic's stat line marked a couple of historic feats for the Nuggets center.

Denver's star posted the first 60-point triple-double in a loss, tied Wilt Chamberlain for the most triple-doubles in a season (31) and recorded the first game since Michael Jordan with 60+ points in 50+ minutes.

Jokic entered the game against the Timberwolves averaging 29.3 points, 12.8 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game, all of which ranked Top 3 in the NBA.

He's currently in the MVP race, potentially winning his fourth league MVP. Jokic previously won the prestigious award during the 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2023-24 seasons.

Jokic's biggest competitor in the MVP race is Oklahoma City Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has averaged a league-leading 32.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game.

With the loss, the Nuggets fell to 47-29 on the season. They're sitting at No. 3 in the Western Conference standings, behind the No. 1 Oklahoma City Thunder and No. 2 Houston Rockets.
