A wave of black and white descended on the city to welcome Eddie Howe and his Wembley heroes home. Estimates claim over 300,000 supporters roared the Magpies through the streets before attending the Town Moor event.
The scenes were unprecedented for most Newcastle fans given the club last lifted a major domestic honour in 1955. Toon chiefs will be hoping the Carabao Cup becomes the first of many under a Saudi-backed ownership.
A minority of rival fans have poked fun at Newcastle fans for their fervent support on Saturday. Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie O’Hara went as far as to call the celebrations “cringe” and “over the top” - comments that infuriated supporters.

However, Brentford boss Frank was “happy” to see the scenes of adulation on Tyneside. The Bees are looking to sting Newcastle’s hopes for Champions League qualification at St James’ Park tonight.
“I hope they had an unbelievable party because they deserved it. It's their first major cup in almost a lifetime,” he told reporters. “It's an incredible achievement for them and I'm really happy on their behalf. I'm pretty sure they will come flying out under the floodlights for a celebration.”
Frank also provided an injury update on trio Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey and Gustavo Nunes after they played in an under-21s match earlier this week. Fortunately for Newcastle, none are fit enough to make a Premier League return.
"All three looked good and ticked the physical boxes,” Frank added. “Rico is the one who is furthest ahead of the three. I think he is close to returning to the squad.
“It could be for Chelsea (on Sunday), but let's see. Hickey is on track. He had some minor pain which limited his minutes - we're being extra cautious."

Howe also had kind words for Brentford before tonight’s game. Newcastle have one win - in the Carabao Cup - and a Premier League defeat to the Bees this season.
Football is a fast-moving game - and a section of Newcastle fans were beginning to question the Toon boss following December’s league defeat. Howe said: "We played them in the Carabao Cup so we know their strengths.
“Thomas (Frank) has done an incredible job. They are very good at set plays, and their away form has really turned around. They are a really high-scoring team as well, so it should be a good game."
