Darren Bent says one Man City player would start for any team in world football, and it's not…

Darren Bent has made quite the claim about one Manchester City player.

It’s been a tough old season so far for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola.

Ederson has already told Pep Guardiola that he needs to usher in a new crop of stars at The Etihad.

And it has been claimed that the Man City manager is planning to move on up to eight Man City players this summer.

There will be numerous high profile additions made by Pep in the summer transfer window.

However, one position where they’re well stocked is the centre-forward department.

Darren Bent contradicts himself about Man City’s Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland hasn’t been anywhere near his best for Man City this season.

He doesn’t often get involved in build-up play, but it has been claimed that that is exactly how Pep Guardiola wants Erling Haaland to operate for Manchester City.

Perhaps the biggest compliment anyone can give him is the fact that he has still scored 30 goals in 40 games, despite being slightly off the boil.

When speaking on talkSPORT, the former Aston Villa and Tottenham striker was asked about how Haaland’s injury will impact Man City during the remainder of the season:

“It’s massive. When you look at the goals in the squad, Erling Haaland’s got 21, the next one is Phil Foden with seven! You can’t replace Haaland. People talk about his lack of touches and that he doesn’t get involved, but he scores goals. He’d get in any team in world football.“

Bent was then asked if he’d rather have Haaland or Kane:

“Kane. I’d have Mbappe over both of them.“

That’s quite the contradiction from Darren Bent isn’t it!

Erling Haaland injury update and what Pep Guardiola has said

The 24-year-old striker will be missing from action for around six or seven weeks, according to the Guardian.

What a devastating blow that is for Man City at this stage of the season.

Pep Guardiola spoke to reporters, and responded when asked when Haaland will be back in action for City:

“He’ll be back at the end of the season and for the Club World Cup will be ready.”

It will be very interesting to see how Manchester City cope without Erling Haaland.

Judging by Darren Bent’s remarks, it will be a real uphill struggle for them during the final seven weeks of the season.
