**Liverpool centre-back Jarell Quansah “wants” to join Newcastle United in the summer transfer window, according to former scout Mick Brown.**
The 22-year-old has matured into a good squad option for the Reds over the past couple of seasons, also forcing his way into the England squad.
Despite this, exit rumours have started to emerge, and speaking to [_Football Insider_](https://www.footballinsider247.com/jarell-quansah-wants-to-join-newcastle-united/), Brown claimed that Quansah is eyeing a move to Newcastle at the end of the season:
_“His chances are going to be limited at Liverpool I picked Quansah out when he was in the youth team and I always thought he had the makings of becoming a top player. He’s got to a certain level in his career, but now I think he needs to push on again._
_“To do that, he’s got to be playing football at the top level. With the options they’ve got at Liverpool at the moment, it doesn’t look like he’ll be a regular any time soon, especially while they’re looking to sign new players there._
_“So if he’s got the opportunity to go and play for Newcastle, I hear he wants to do that. He knows what’s best for his career, and at this stage is being able to play every week. It would be a tremendous move for him and for Newcastle, they’d be picking up a very promising young player if they could get it over the line.”_
**Should Liverpool cash in on Quansah?**
----------------------------------------
There would be a risk in Liverpool selling Quansah this summer, considering he is a young player with plenty of long-term potential.
Admittedly, the Englishman hasn’t kicked on this season as much as he may have hoped, starting with being substituted at half-time away to Ipswich Town on the opening weekend, but [Virgil van Dijk](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-13180053/Jarell-Quansahs-interview-Liverpool-vs-Man-City-shows-Virgil-van-Dijk-thinks-skys-limit-aspires-like-Van-Dijk.html) has lauded him, saying:
_“He’s been important. Every challenge that was thrown his way he dealt with. He was outstanding again. The sky is the limit. He just needs to stay humble and keep working hard and keep improving.”_
That said, if Newcastle come in with a sizeable bid for Quansah that Liverpool feel is too good to turn down, there would be some sense in accepting it, assuming they have options lined up to replace him in the summer window.
