Erling Haaland of Manchester City embraces team mate Omar Marmoush as he is substituted due to injury during the FA Cup Quarter Final match between AFC Bournemouth and Manchester City
Omar Marmoush replaced Erling Haaland in Manchester City's FA Cup win at Bournemouth on Sunday
Manchester City will have to cope without the injured Erling Haaland against Leicester City tonight.
Omar Marmoush is the obvious candidate to step into the side after scoring what proved to be the winner after replacing Haaland in the FA Cup quarter final at Bournemouth on Sunday.
Marmoush is a different type of centre forward to Haaland and City will have to adapt their game should the Egyptian become the focal point of the attack.
Pep Guardiola will be looking for key contributions in forward areas from the likes of Phil Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Savinho and Jeremy Doku.
The latter two could return to the XI tonight. Savinho missed the game against Bournemouth after his partner gave birth, while Doku was on the bench. Jack Grealish will also be hoping for a start but if Savinho is available, the England international may have to be content with a place on the bench given the directness his competitors offer in wide areas.
Leicester have lost 11 of 12 in the Premier League and concede goals for fun, meaning Guardiola can afford to name an attack minded XI. Phil Foden can play behind Marmoush with Bernardo Silva and Nico Gonzalez offering the midfield support.
Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne featured at Bournemouth and could drop out to preserve energy levels ahead of the Manchester derby.
Nico O'Reilly changed the game off the bench at Bournemouth but it would be a big call to play him at full back from the start against Leicester. Mathues Nunes was caught out in that position so Rico Lewis can come back in with Josko Gvardiol on the left.
The injury issues remain at centre back so Khusanov and Ruben Dias can continue with Ederson in goal.
Predicted City XI: Ederson; Lewis, Khusanov, Dias, Gvardiol; Kovacic, Bernardo, Foden; Doku, Savinho, Marmoush
