"I Want To Fight For Titles" - £62M Arsenal Transfer Target Hints At Possible Summer Move To The Emirates

Wolves striker Matheus Cunha has said that he wants to move to a bigger club in the summer window with Arsenal linked to him.

The Gunners were strongly linked to Cunha during the January transfer window, but he instead opted to stay with Wolves and try and help them to Premier League safety by signing a new four-year contract with the club. They now sit 17th in the league table, nine points clear from the relegation zone.

Cunha has made 29 appearances for Wolves this season, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists, he has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Premier League which has generated a lot of transfer interest in him, including from Arsenal.

In a recent interview with the Guardian, Cunha said that he wants to move to a bigger club now that the job of keeping Wolves safe from relegation is all but done. He said: “Now, we’re close to achieving our goal [of staying up]. But I’ve made it clear that I need to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for big things. I have potential.”

The 25-year-old also explained that he had a lot of interest in January, however he didn’t want to leave Wolves with the club battling relegation. “I had a lot of offers but I wouldn’t feel well if I had done it,” he said. “Some things you can’t control but I couldn’t leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone.”

Cunha reportedly has a £62.5 million release clause attached to the contract that he signed in January, likely a figure that Arsenal will have to pay if Wolves become reluctant to sell him.

Arsenal could sign Cunha or Gyokeres

Cunha isn’t the only top striker that has been heavily linked to Arsenal as Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres has been for some time.

According to new reports, Arsenal’s appointment of Sporting Director Andrea Berta has significantly increased their chances of landing Gyokeres in the summer transfer window.

He has scored 42 goals in 42 games in all competitions this season for Sporting CP and has also been linked with a move to join former manager Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.
