A lot of things that Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have done at Chelsea have drawn criticism.
For example, Chelsea have sold their women’s team to themselves to help the club comply with PSR, and that has not gone down well.
Chelsea have also given out nine-year contracts to players, which has attracted criticism as well.
It is risky, but it will prevent the club from finding themselves in a situation that their London rivals Arsenal are now in.

Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali won’t let players run down their contracts like at Arsenal
For all of the criticism that Chelsea have got for handing out such long contracts, Boehly and Eghbali will at least not have to worry about potentially losing any of their stars for nothing. The same cannot be said about those running Arsenal.
The Gunners have several players who are out of contract in the next two years, including Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.
Chelsea’s new contract policy means the Blues should not find themselves in that situation. Boehly and Eghbali have clearly learnt from the club’s past mistakes.

Chelsea were forced to watch both Antoni Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leave on free transfers in 2022 after allowing them to enter the final year of their contracts.
Christensen was tipped to become Chelsea captain one day, so it was disappointing to see him go, while everyone simply loved Rudiger and his style of defending.
Thankfully, under the club’s new owners, something similar should not happen again.

How long Chelsea have their key players tied down for
While Arsenal are in danger of losing some of the most important figures in their squad, Chelsea’s will not be going anywhere anytime soon.
The likes of Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson have contracts until 2033, while Enzo Fernandez has a deal until 2032.
Select Chelsea players Contract expires
Cole Palmer 2033
Nicolas Jackson 2033
Enzo Fernandez 2032
Pedro Neto 2031
Mykhailo Mudryk 2031
Moises Caicedo 2031
Noni Madueke 2030
Romeo Lavia 2030
Because of their policy, you would also expect any new signings Chelsea make this summer to be given long deals, too.
Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap could be one of those additions. It is thought that Delap is Maresca’s No.1 target for the striker position.
