Ben Johnson, who will be the new head coach for the Chicago Bears in the next NFL season, seems to have a number of plans for the team up his sleeve. Johnson discussed the same with reporters during the NFL Annual Meeting, remarking that he aims to have a basketball team-like situation with the Bears, where there are several types of talents for him to call upon for different tasks.
The Chicago Bears will be the first team that Ben Johnson will be serving in the role of Head Coach. In the previous season, Johnson was the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions. His skills proved highly valuable for Detroit, who finished at the top of the NFC North with 15 wins and a pair of defeats, all thanks to their remarkable offense.
“You don’t want five 6’4” guys necessarily in the receiver room. You want more of a basketball team where you got the point guard, you got the power forward, you have a wealth of different skill sets that you can look and call upon whether you’re at the field or whatever situation arises.” Ben Johnson said to reporters about his plans with the Chicago Bears.

The Chicago Bears were quite shabby in the previous NFL season and finished fourth in the NFC North after winning only five games in the season and losing 12. The Bears played their final game of the season against the Green Bay Packers in the first week of January, winning the game 24-22, in a too-late fashion.

Ben Johnson Working Closely With QB Caleb Williams To Improve Performance
One of the most crucial things that head coach Ben Johnson has in his mind is to improve quarterback Caleb Williams’ performance this season. While Williams is indeed a very talented player, Johnson hopes to fine-tune the quarterback’s performance even more.

Caleb Williams has been playing for the Chicago Bears since the previous season. The 23-year-old quarterback was selected as the first pick in the very first round of the 2024 NFL draft. Before joining the NFL, Williams played college football for the Oklahoma Sooners in 2021 and then for the USC Trojans from 2022 to 2023.

In his very first NFL season, Williams managed a pretty decent 3,541 passing yards, scoring 20 touchdowns and managing six interceptions for the Chicago Bears. However, the Bears were not well-rounded enough to bring out the best in their quarterback. With Ben Johnson in the picture now, the Chicago Bears will be hopefully doing a lot better in the upcoming NFL season.
