Ex-NFL Defensive Player of the Year, sentenced after pulling gun in Starbucks dispute

A former NFL Defensive Player of the Year and two-time Super Bowl champion who pulled a gun during an argument at a Starbucks and threatened to kill an employee has been sentenced.

According to [TMZ](https://www.tmz.com/2025/04/01/terrell-suggs-sentenced-to-probation-in-starbucks-threat-case/), [Terrell Suggs](https://www.nj.com/sports/2024/05/2x-super-bowl-champ-indicted-on-alleged-murder-threat.html), the former linebacker who played for the Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs, was sentenced to 18 months of supervised probation after getting into an argument in April 2024 while waiting in the drive-thru line of a Starbucks in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Suggs and the man exchanged words, and Suggs later pulled out a gun. No shots were fired and both men drove away. Police eventually caught up with Suggs and he was booked on disorderly conduct and threatening or intimidation charges. However, he agreed to a deal that allowed him to plead guilty to the disorderly conduct charge.

TMZ added that Suggs must complete 100 hours of community service, undergo anger management counseling, and abstain from alcohol. He also must get permission before leaving the state. If he violates any of the terms of his sentence, he could face jail time. However, if he complies with all conditions of the deal, his probation could be shortened.

Suggs’ last season in the NFL was 2019. He finished his career with 139 sacks, the eighth-highest total in league history. He also was named to seven Pro Bowls. Suggs was named the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year in the 2011-2012 season after finishing with 14 sacks and seven forced fumbles.
