Enzo Maresca shares what he noticed about Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez during his recent games for Argentina

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca has made an observation about Enzo Fernandez’s performances for his country during the recent international break.

Chelsea haven’t played for well over two weeks since they lost to Arsenal because of March’s international break.

Blues midfielder Enzo Fernandez, 24, joined up with Argentina to play in a couple of World Cup qualifiers.

Apparently, Fernandez committed his future to Chelsea when some international teammates tried to convince him to join them at Atletico.

For Blues fans, they’ll be delighted to hear Fernandez’s loyalty to them. Also, they’ll be excited to see the side return to action on Thursday night when they host rivals Tottenham in the Premier League.

Enzo Maresca noticed intelligence of Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez for Argentina

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has just paid huge credit to Fernandez for his improvement this season.

In particular, he thinks that the box-to-box central midfielder is growing as an attacking threat, something he even showed when he scored and assisted for Argentina against Brazil.

When discussing Fernandez in his press conference, Maresca said via Chelsea’s YouTube channel: “Since we started, he’s improving a lot. He’s understanding the game much, much better. At the beginning he struggled a little bit, now he is always doing the right things and always in the right position.

“The reason why he is scoring goals and assisting is because most of the time he’s in the right position. Even with the international team, he was in the right position and inside the box. So happy for Enzo.”

Chelsea fans praised Fernandez after his superb performance against Brazil, claiming that he’s now become a serious attacking threat.

The midfield star always shines on the international stage with Argentina, earning 36 senior caps to date. On top of that, he’s really starting to come into his own in Chelsea colours.

In 35 club appearances this season for the Blues, Fernandez has scored five goals and created nine assists.

Not only has Fernandez become a bigger goal threat, but he’s standing out during a time when Chelsea are quite inconsistency. Jason Cundy has noticed Fernandez change into more of a leader at Stamford Bridge this year.

Enzo Fernandez cemented in Chelsea’s XI

It wasn’t always the case earlier in the season, but Fernandez now looks like one of the first names in Chelsea’s starting line-up.

The South American midfielder combines superbly well alongside Moises Caicedo. Fernandez thrives in a box-to-box role where he’s encouraged to join the attacks, while Caicedo does all the industrious defensive work in behind him.

Romeo Lavia’s frequent injury problems have required Fernandez to step up, and he now looks unmovable in the XI.

Apart from the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in January that he missed through injury, Fernandez has played every minute in 17 of Chelsea’s previous 18 league games.
