Newcastle United are on cloud nine at the moment after winning the Carabao Cup.
However, there’s undoubtedly a niggling issue in the back of many fans’ minds at the moment.
Alexander Isak’s future remains up in the air.
It’s no secret that Arsenal want to sign Isak, while Liverpool have been linked with Isak too in recent times.
Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Arsenal’s search for a new striker, and he touched on Isak’s future at Newcastle, claiming that the £60m man is in a 50/50 situation at St James’ Park.

Fabrizio Romano shares how likely Alexander Isak is to leave Newcastle
Romano spoke about Arsenal’s search for a new striker, touching on Isak’s situation in the process.
The journalist says it is a 50/50 situation with Isak, claiming that there is a real chance that the striker leaves Newcastle.
“He (Sesko) remains an option, for sure, in the list. He was one of the names also in the January transfer window. Arsenal were thinking to make an approach with Red Bull Leipzig, but then they understood with just a few calls that it was impossible in January to make something happen with Leipzig for Sesko,” Romano said.
“But in the summer could be completely different. My expectation is for Benjamin Sesko to go in the summer transfer window. So I see, for example, Gyokeres leaving, Sesko leaving.
“For Isak, it remains a 50/50 situation. So it’s a completely different case. But for Sesko, everything is clear.”
Alexander Isak compared to Gyokeres and Sesko
Isak is Arsenal’s dream target, and when you look at the numbers, it’s not hard to understand why.
Indeed, the Newcastle star has been utterly brilliant this season, and when you compare his stats to Arsenal’s other potential targets that Romano has named, his brilliance shines through.
Alexander Isak Viktor Gyokeres Benjamin Sesko
Games 25 26 26
Goals 19 30 10
Assists 5 6 5
League stats this season
Of course, Viktor Gyokeres has scored more goals than Isak, but goals in Portugal aren’t necessarily the same as goals in the Premier League.
Indeed, the Premier League has chewed up and spat out a number of top players from the Portuguese League over the years, and there’s no guarantee that Gyokeres would be a star in English football if he were to come across to a team like Arsenal.
Isak is a proven commodity at the top level, and that’s what makes him such an appealing potential option for a team like Arsenal, and that’s why Isak is valued at £200m by some.
