Report: Liverpool have now made enquiry to sign £34m attacker with 'tremendous speed'

Liverpool’s Premier League season is set to end with the Reds lifting the title, with attention already focused on the summer transfer window.

The off-season is set to bring a slew of changes for the Anfield side, with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to join Real Madrid as Saudi Arabia have new hope they can sign Mohamed Salah, with more Liverpool players expected to leave.

As well as refreshing the squad with sales, signings are needed if Arne Slot is to retain the Premier League title next season and to go all the way in the UEFA Champions League, with the last-16 exit a notably low point in what has been a great campaign.

And Liverpool have now made their first move to sign one of the most exciting forwards in the Bundesliga this season.

Liverpool make enquiry for VfL Wolfsburg’s Mohamed Amoura

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool are one of a handful of Premier League sides to make an enquiry for VfL Wolfsburg attacker Mohamed Amoura, with Arsenal and Nottingham Forest also in contention for the Algerian international.

Noted as a player with ‘tremendous speed’ by Wolfsburg’s sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz, Amoura has been in excellent form for the Bundesliga side this season, with the £34m-rated forward taking to life in Germany like a duck to water having joined from Union Saint-Gilloise last summer.

Capable of playing as a centre-forward and a left-winger, Amoura’s versatility and physical attributes make the Algerian international an interesting prospect for Liverpool, who are lacking someone with pace in their attacking ranks.

And with Wolfsburg willing to listen to offers for Amoura, Liverpool could be in with a chance of signing the 24-year-old attacker, who could be a great option should a player like Darwin Nunez leave Anfield in the summer.

What other attackers have Liverpool been linked with?

A new forward is clearly a priority for the Reds this summer, with Liverpool’s interest in Alexander Isak one of the most well-publicised transfer stories heading into the window, even with Newcastle United demanding £150m for the striker.

Yet beyond Amoura and Isak, there have been some interesting players that have been rumoured with a move to Anfield, with Liverpool in the race to sign Jonathan David as the LOSC Lille attacker looks to leave France at the end of his contract.

With Liverpool also eyeing Hugo Ekitike, a striker is firmly on the agenda for the Reds, and bringing in the right option will be paramount if Slot is to have a successful second season on Merseyside with the Premier League leaders.
