_Full match player ratings below:_
**Andriy Lunin—6:** Some nice medium and long range distribution out of the back to find his target. Big save on a Real Sociedad corner in the second half but will be disappointed to have given up four goals.
**Lucas Vazquez—4:** The goal conceded in the first half was not entirely on Lucas, there were several breakdowns that led to the goal but it’s true that Lucas lacks the athleticism, speed, and overall defensive tactical acumen to be starting match after match for Real Madrid at right back.
**Raul Asencio—6:** Stepped out aggressively from the goal conceded without adequate cover from the system behind him, a gamble that was not worth taking. Otherwise, was foot perfect with several well-timed defensive tackles and interceptions.
**David Alaba—3:** Always assured playing out of the back and with the ball at his feet but there are times when turning and running towards goal that he looks like a 32-year-old coming back from an ACL injury. Scored not one but two own goals due to some unlucky deflections.
**Eduardo Camavinga—4:** Played at left back and helped with the “salida” or exit ball out of the back. A couple of defensive sequences where both he and Alaba were caught out stepping too high. In the second half, Kubo started tormenting Camavinga and he began to look out of his depth at left back.
**Tchouameni—6:** Slightly leg heavy and slow in possession. Scored a towering header late in the second half, thinking he secured passage to next round, only for the team to concede another goal late.
**Fede Valverde—6:** Played both center midfield and right back showing off his versatility once again.
**Jude Bellingham—8:** Several touches to bring down an aerial ball that were awe-inspiring. Followed that technical ability up with some dagger passes in the final third, including a through ball to Lucas which the fullback should have connected with. Scored a volley from a Vinicius Junior cross which brought Madrid back in the game at 2-2.
**Rodrygo—6:** Did a massive amount of unseen and unheralded defensive work down the right flank.
**Vinicius Junior—8.5:** This was an improved Vinicius — much better than in recent showings. Worked hard off the ball and earned the applause of the Bernabeu when tracking back on a counter. Produced an outrageous assist, using the outside of the boot, with a pass that went some 60 yards to feed Endrick through on goal. Had another assist to Bellingham in the final minutes of the second half after beating his man down the left and crossing.
**Endrick—8:** What a talent —Andreas Pereira once said he was “touched by god”, the ball naturally falls to him. An early bicycle kick which was created out of nothing was the first glimpse of his talent. He then went on to score a deft chip, Raul Gonzalez Blanco-esque. Of course, with any teenage talent there was heavy touches, wayward shots, and awful defending. In fact, the Brazilian had some fault in the initial goal conceded with his subpar “cover shadow” defending. There will always be gives and takes with a young player but there is no doubting that Real Madrid have a supreme talent on their books.
**Substitutes**:
**Kylian Mbappe—6:** Did not put his stamp on the match and had two shots off target.
**Luka Modric—6**: Came on and the team immediately conceded another goal. Eventually helped to slow things down and regain some control in a chaotic match.
**Fran Garcia—7:** Replaced Camavinga who was having a nightmare in the second half.
**Rudiger—8:** Scored the tie-winning goal with a header in the second half of extra time from an Arda Guler corner.
**Arda Guler—8:** Produced the tie-winning assist with a perfect in-swinging corner to Rudiger. Played most of his minutes deep in the center of midfield spraying passes and dictating play.
