Arsenal, Newcastle United keeping tabs on €40 million-rated Serie A defender, possible…

Arsenal and Newcastle United are both interested in acquiring the services of AS Roma centre-back Evan Ndicka.

According to a report from Caught Offside, Arsenal and Newcastle United are both interested in Evan Ndicka, and they have been closely monitoring him for a while now. AS Roma could be forced to part ways with their defensive mainstay, and both Premier League clubs are ready to make the most out of it.

Ndicka was on the radar of quite a few top clubs back in 2023 on the back of his impressive performances at Eintracht Frankfurt. While there was no shortage, he eventually ended up joining AS Roma to take the next step in his career.

He has been the go-to man at Roma since arriving at the Serie A club. Over the last two seasons, Ndicka has featured in a total of 77 matches, and he has even contributed towards five goals. The 25-year-old even wore the captain’s armband in one of their UEFA Europa League games at the start of the campaign.

While the Ivory Coast international is a key figure in the team, and his contract there runs until 2028. So, AS Roma could be forced to sanction his departure amidst the growing interest. If the Serie A giants fail to qualify for any of the European competitions, they might have to cash in on him to balance their books. The Giallorossi will demand around €40 million to part ways with Evan Ndicka.

Ndicka could be heading to the Premier League

Such a situation will open the doors for Arsenal and Newcastle United, who are both keeping a close eye on the Ivorian international. The Magpies were interested in back in 2023 as well. While the Tyneside outfit did not strike a deal for him back in the day, they are ready to go after this summer.

Newcastle United want more depth and quality at the back. They consider Evan Ndicka an ideal fit for their system under Eddie Howe. Both Newcastle United and Arsenal are prepared to meet his €40 million valuation.

While Howe’s team do need more depth, the Gunners do not really need to bring in another centre-back unless one of their mainstays leaves in the summer. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are the first-choice pairing under Mikel Arteta, while Jakub Kiwior and Ben White are very capable backup options. Saliba has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, which might be one of the reasons why Arsenal are keeping an eye on Ndicka.
