The Argentine international does not want to continue at Tottenham; he is looking to move to Spain and has made it known to his camp amidst interest from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, he will cost £60 million this summer.
Romero has only gone from strength to strength since joining Spurs from Atalanta in the summer of 2021. While it was initially a loan deal, the move was made permanent the next summer. The South American defender has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and he has had a lot of success on the international stage with Argentina.
While he remains one of the first names on their team sheet under Ange Postecoglou, Romero has decided to part ways with the club. With his contract running until the summer of 2027, Spurs were looking to secure his long-term future with a new deal.
