Man Utd ace warned Ruben Amorim ‘will not be pleased’ with one baffling moment in Nottingham Forest defeat, ‘he has to…

A Manchester United player has been called out for his “petulance” after Ruben Amorim’s men tasted defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

Manchester United arrived at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground for their first Premier League match in the aftermath of the March international break.

However, the Red Devils were left chasing the large majority of their clash at City Ground after Anthony Elanga scored in only the fifth minute of the match.

Anthony Elanga haunted his former side after scoring a stunning solo effort off the back of a United corner being cleared, with the Forest star showing incredible pace.

The 22-year-old Swedish forward collected the loose ball in his own half before darting into the United half with his superb dribbling and brilliant awareness.

Elanga slotted a fine low shot past Andre Onana and into the bottom corner of the net to put Forest 1-0 up against United at City Ground on Tuesday evening.

Ruben Amorim’s men were unable to rally back for the remainder of the Premier League tie and failed to find the crucial equaliser against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.

What Alejandro Garnacho did vs Nottingham Forest is not what Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim wants to see

Alejandro Garnacho saw out the full 90 minutes against Nottingham Forest and the Manchester United winger deeply disappointed with his overall performance.

The 20-year-old Spain-born attacker was ineffective in attack and even Alejandro Garnacho’s habit of consistently shooting raised serious eyebrows with United fans.

During the Forest match on Tuesday evening, Garnacho was booked in the second half after he kicked the ball away for dissent after he was flagged offside.

Former Nottingham Forest and Tottenham midfielder Andy Reid insisted that United manager Ruben Amorim would not have been happy with Garnacho for his booking.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live (via BBC Sport), he said: “Silly play.

“Alejandro Garnacho is a young player and he has to learn. You cannot be giving away opportunities like that.

“Then the petulance to kick the ball away, his manager will not be pleased with that.”

Andy Reid was blown away by Anthony Elanga’s performance in Nottingham Forest’s Premier League win over Man Utd

Forest landed Anthony Elanga from United in 2023 for a transfer fee believed to be £15m and Andy Reid waxed lyrical about the former Red Devils talent’s display.

“Anthony Elanga was the best player on the pitch,” Reid said.

“By far the most dangerous, every time he got on the ball the crowd got to the edge of their seats. He was ghosting past players.

“It is incredible to think Manchester United sold him for just £12million given how toothless they looked at times tonight and the fact they had to bring on Harry Maguire up top.

“An incredible piece of business by Forest to bring him in because he was the best player out there tonight.”

United languish in 13th place in the Premier League table and Amorim’s men have only managed 10 league wins in 30 matches in the 2024-25 campaign.
