‘This isn’t a coincidence’ - Laporta blasts La Liga ahead of Barca vs Atletico

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has hit back at La Liga after their [statement earlier today regarding FFP and the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/4/2/24399364/bad-news-for-barcelona-as-la-liga-issue-fresh-statement-on-ffp-dani-olmo-registration).

La Liga aren’t happy with Barcelona’s VIP boxes deal, which is said to have brought in income of €10o million, and say the Catalans are not meeting financial fair play rules.

An angry Laporta has now had his say on the latest events.

> “Sometimes I feel like this isn’t a coincidence. Today we’re playing a final in Madrid against Atlético, which I hope will be a great spectacle. The fact that they’re coming out and stirring up controversies of this kind isn’t a coincidence. It’s yet another attempt to destabilize our team,” Laporta said via Mundo Deportivo.

>

> “Sometimes I have the feeling that what they can’t beat us on the pitch, they try to beat us in the offices, and as president of Barça, I can’t allow this. I will continue to defend the interests of our club, in defense of our members, fans, and supporters.

>

> “The club will respond once the legal department has thoroughly analyzed LaLiga’s letter. We will respond in the most forceful manner necessary to defend the interests of FC Barcelona.”

Barcelona are currently focused on a Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid. The tie is level at 4-4 going into the game, with the winners set to face Real Madrid in the final.
