Newcastle United play down Dango Ouattara rumour

However, the 23-year-old does not appear to be set for a move to St James’ Park.

TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle United sources have played down speculation that they want to sign Ouattara from Bournemouth.

It was reported by Africa Foot that Toon officials had contacted the Cherries about a deal for Ouattara. They claimed that the Burkina Faso international is valued at £33.5million.

However, Newcastle United have laughed off that suggestion.

Newcastle United interested in other Bournemouth players

While Ouattara to Newcastle United seems to be a non-starter, there are various other Bournemouth players who the Magpies are interested in signing this summer.

Antoine Semenyo is on Eddie Howe’s radar, having initially been linked with a move to St James’ Park in January. That did not happen, and now multiple clubs are queuing up to sign the 25-year-old following his rise at the Vitality Stadium.

However, Bournemouth’s £70million asking price for Semenyo might be enough to put suitors off.

Elsewhere, Newcastle have discussed Justin Kluivert, while their search for a centre-back has resulted in interest in Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi.

Newcastle face a lot of competition for Huijsen, who is available for £50million due to a release clause in his contract.
