Ederson was in conversation with Shay Given
Ederson has revealed a bizarre superstition
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has made a startling revelation over a superstition he abides by for every match he competes in. The Brazilian shotstopper claims to have worn the same pair of boxer shorts for the last eight years of his competitive action.
That is a period that encompasses his entire spell at the Etihad Stadium after Pep Guardiola signed the 31-year-old from Benfica in 2017. Ederson arrived in a deal worth £35million, ahead of the Catalan coach's second season charge after failing to secure a trophy in his first season.
Ederson has went on to make 362 appearances for the club and six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, a Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in that time. And his trusty pair of underway appears to have been there for every second.
The veteran is not typically superstitious, but told ex-Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given of his bizarre totem of consitency.

"I have only one superstition," Ederson told Given on Football Focus. "Play every game in the same boxer shorts." Slightly taken aback, Given went in search of some clarity. "What, the same boxer shorts for the whole season?" he asked.
"'No, eight years the same boxers," Ederson said with a smirk, to the former Republic of Ireland international's surprise.
"No way," Given came back with, before delivering a quick quip in response. He added: "They must be... not in good shape!"
Ederson, if true to his word, will wear the same boxers once again this evening as Manchester City welcome Leicester City to the Etihad. The goalkeeper has not seen his undergarments work quite as well this term with City sitting fifth in the Premier League and still needing to secure a Champions League spot.

The Brazil international has not seen his spot quite as secure as previous seasons, with competition from Stefan Ortega. With little over a year on his contract, Ederson has even seen talk of a move away from Manchester.
Jose Mourinho is even said to be eyeing a deal for the star as he looks to strengthen his Fenerbahce side for next season. Ederson saw speculation over his position last summer, and it wasn't until the even of the season he confirmed he would remain with the club.
“I spoke to Pep, and it was crucial… I’m happy to stay and fully focused on winning more titles here. I also spoke to the board, directors, and teammates, and I’m staying," he said in August.
