AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan
AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan has been linked with a move to Manchester United
There is less than two months until the start of the summer transfer window and Manchester United are expected to dip into the market to strengthen their squad.
Ruben Amorim's side signed two players in January as Ayden Heaven and Patrick Dorgu arrived from Arsenal and Lecce respectively, and United are anticipated to add further this summer. A new No.9 and a central midfielder appear to be at the top of the club's shopping list.
As for players leaving Old Trafford, Napoli continue to be interested in Alejandro Garnacho ahead of a potential summer move. Elsewhere, Kobbie Mainoo has been tipped to depart United in a bumper £70m transfer. Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are out of contract in June.
Here is the latest United transfer news and gossip..
Delap update
The Daily Mail report Manchester United have held internal discussions over a potential summer move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap. The 22-year-old has scored ten times in 28 Premier League matches this season.
United, who are likely to be in the market for a new attacker, have been linked with a host of players. Delap is thought to have a release clause in the region of £40m if Ipswich are relegated from the Premier League. This figure is more affordable than the likes of Hugo Ekitike, who is valued at closer to £70m.
MEN says: This is the striker signing Manchester United should make. It does feel as though Ruben Amorim doesn't trust Rasmus Hojlund as the long-term solution up front and therefore United need to dip into the market for a No.9. At this stage, Delap does look the best fit right now.
He has Premier League experience, having hit double-figures for Ipswich this season, and is expected to be available at a reasonable price. For them two reasons, United should attempt to lure Delap back to Manchester, after spending a couple of years in the Manchester City academy.
Maignan pursuit
Spanish outlet Fichajes claim Manchester United have 'taken a giant step' towards signing AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
It's said the 29-year-old has become the club's 'top priority for strengthening' their goalkeeping department amid Andre Onana's recent performances. The latter has made a number of mistakes between the sticks in recent months.
The report also mentions that Maignan's future is 'still undecided' but 'everything points' to him being one of the key players to feature in the summer transfer window.
MEN says: It's clear that Andre Onana has endured a downturn in form of recent late. The Cameroonian impressed at the back end of last season but has not been at his best in recent months, making a series of high-profile mistakes which has put his place as United's No.1 under serious threat.
For me, United need to look at replacing Onana if they want to get back to the top of English football. Although he hasn't had experience of the Premier League himself, Maignan does seem like an ideal fit, on paper. The Frenchman has kept 11 clean sheets in 42 matches this season.
