The Denver Broncos are on the lookout for more weapons, so when it is rumored that a new star tight end is on the market, it is Denver's job to check it out. Especially when there is a 6'5, 256-pound Super Bowl-winning tight end that is only 30 years old available for trade. The Broncos have already brought in one star tight end this offseason, and with how Sean Payton likes to use tight ends they could bring in another.
The Philadelphia Eagles have been rumored to have put starting tight end Dallas Goedert on the trade market since his contract is expiring, and the Eagles are uncertain if they want to bring him back on a long-term extension. Goedert is a stud when he plays, but he has dealt with some injury issues that have kept him off the field.
Goedert played in 10 games last year, where he recorded 42 catches for 496 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season. Goedoert also had 17 catches for 215 yards and a touchdown, along with two rushes for 13 yards in the post season, where he played a key role in the Eagles' Super Bowl journey.
Goedert is a sure-handed tight end who can make big plays down the field, break tackles, make contested catches, and he is a fantastic run blocker. He is a do-it-all tight end who can be effective in the run and pass game. He also has a lot of game and playoff experience. He is a known winner that can bring some of that culture to Denver.
Denver already brought in Evan Engram, and they would be even scarier with Goedert next to him. Both of them can be brought in on run and pass downs, and they will make it hard for defenses to tell what the Broncos are running. The two tight end sets have been proven effective with two talented tight ends and Engram and Goedert have more than enough talent to make it work.
Goedert has gotten the ring he has been working for and he could now go play on a fun young team, make a lot of money, and be a big contributor on a playoff-caliber team. The Eagles lost a lot of players in the offseason, and they are not going to have enough money to keep everyone, so Goedert can go to a franchise that is on the rise rather than the decline.
Goedert is on the last year of his deal which means the Broncos could lock him up for the next three to four years on a deal and have him be Bo Nix tight end for the foreseeable future. His play style, along with the culture he brings, is exactly what the Broncos are looking for in a veteran tight end.
The Eagles would be getting a talented young player to help out either their secondary or defensive line, which are the two areas they need the most help as well as a third and sixth round pick. They may not be able to get one of the top tight ends like Colston Loveland or Tyler Warren, who are both projected to go in the first round, but with the last pick in the first and second round along with two third rounders after the trade they could get another young and talented tight end.
The trade can benefit both teams as the Eagles need more picks and players for depth after all their offseason losses, and the Broncos need as much help to surround Bo Nix as possible. With the Eagles rumored to have Goedert on the trade block and the two teams being in opposite conferences, this should be an easy deal to get done before the draft.
