West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus reportedly has two separate buyout clauses in his contract, according to Sky Sports Germany transfer journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Plettenberg—well known for his connections to former Hammers director of football Tim Steidten—was the first to reveal details of Kudus’ buyout clause back in June 2024, at a time when most had been briefed that no such clause existed. He was proven correct then, so it’s fair to assume his latest information holds weight.
This time, the German correspondent claims that Kudus has a higher release clause specifically for Saudi Arabian clubs, while the lower clause (believed to be around £85 million) applies to European teams.

Speaking via his social media, Plettenberg stated:
“Understand that Mohammed Kudus’ release clause for Saudi clubs is even higher than the £85 million set for European teams.
Saudi clubs are interested in Kudus, but at this stage, his main plan is not to move to Saudi Arabia this summer. Enquiries have been made, but nothing is concrete yet.”
It’s another layer of complexity in a developing story, with Kudus continuing to attract interest from around Europe and beyond.
The Ghanaian international was notably absent from West Ham’s squad for yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, although no official explanation has been given for his omission at the time of writing it’s unlikely to be transfer related.
