FRISCO - What Tetairoa McMillan is about to learn about the NFL Draft and the NFL in general?
Sometimes, "A Football Life'' isn't fair.
The Dallas Cowboys have "Tet'' on their wish list with the No. 12 pick in the NFL Draft.
Assuming Micah Parsons gets his $200 million contract extension this offseason, the Cowboys will have foundational foundational pieces secured for the next few years.
Dak Prescott is that. CeeDee Lamb is that. Parsons is that. Add Tyler Smith and maybe more to the list, and the roster core is a good one.
And picking as high as No. 12? Clearly, the Cowboys would like to add to that foundation.
We hear lots of buzz from here inside The Star on Arizona's Tetairoa McMillan. He's 6-4 and he's 220 and he is arguably the best pure receiver in the 2025 class, having posted 1,300 yards in each of his last two seasons with the Wildcats.
The Cowboys are not hiding their desire to acquire an "explosive No. 2 receiver'' to play alongside Lamb.
So what's the problem?
Social media is spinning a tiny detail into a gigantic controversy as an old video has surfaced in which McMillan mumbled something about not being a film-study guy.
When asked if he does not watch football, he replied "at all." He would add "I don't like watching film, either. I don't ever need to watch it by myself because we go over it as a receiver group."
Is that worth investigating, for Dallas and every other team? Of course, and when they do so they will find that, among other things, the video is from early 2023. ... before McMillan became a sensation.
Oh, and we think he was 19 years old at the time.
And yet ... the headlines are killing the kid.
"Tetairoa McMillan's Draft Stock in Jeopardy After Alarming Social Media Video Surfaces,'' one reads.
"Cowboys Predicted to Spend First-Round Pick on Prospect Who Doesn't Watch Football,'' goes another.
Lost in the Tet-bashing is the hope that he's matured on his way to becoming a college superstar ... and/or that teams like the Cowboys will learn that he's willing to learn.
McMillan's is a name to keep an eye on for Cowboys fans as the draft approaches.
And for the Cowboys? How much do you want to bet that when they meet with him ... they turn down the lights and invite him to watch some film?
