Arsenal braced for Viktor Gyokeres transfer delay after Chelsea double deal confirmed

Sporting CP reportedly want to sell Viktor Gyokeres after July 1 rather than before due to financial reasons.

The Portuguese club are also said to be aware of interest from Arsenal in the Sweden international. Gyokeres will almost certainly leave Lisbon during this summer transfer window, after spending a second season in the Primeira Liga.

However, two of his team-mates have already agreed to their transfers to the Premier League, which now seems set to impact the striker.

Sporting CP are now claimed to be in no such need to sell during this financial year and so waiting to do any deal has become more desirable for them.

A Bola - the Lisbon-based Portuguese newspaper - acknowledges selling after July 1 will ensure financial relief for the 2025/2026 season.

The sales of Dario Essugo and Geovany Quenda to Chelsea for €74million (£62million) combined have, reportedly, already secured that for this year.

Sporting CP now seem set to receive a similar amount for Gyokeres alone after "establishing a minimum value" of €70million (£59million).

However, it is said that they hope an auction could ensue this summer that would see that price rise closer to the player's €100million (£84million) release clause.

Arsenal are reportedly a club that Gyokeres has on a list of clubs that he would sign for - alongside Liverpool and Manchester City from the Premier League. Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid all also reputedly feature, with playing in the Champions League once again next season, seemingly, a major requirement.

As such, Manchester United reputedly don't feature at this stage despite the presence of his former Sporting CP head coach, Ruben Amorim, at Old Trafford.

However, it still remains a possibility for them to qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League this season, as they did when last winning the UEFA competition eight years ago.
