Brazilian side Palmeiras will be due €21m from Chelsea in the coming years if Estêvão reaches 70 games with at least 45 minutes played.
That’s [according to journalist Jorge Nicola](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XqHH-GHCRA), who covers the player today and the intimate transfer details of the Brazilian youngster’s move to Stamford Bridge.
Estêvão is set to join Chelsea in the summer transfer window after they secured a €34m deal for him in the middle of last year.
He is one of several youngsters they have moved to wrap up early ahead of potential competition, reaching an agreement with Palmeiras for him to remain there until he turns 18 this year.
Whether the youngster proves to be worth the money and the wait remains to be seen, with the 17-year-old still very much a talent and yet to reach 100 games for Palmeiras. He currently has 20 goals and 10 assists in 61 games. He’s also made four appearances for the Brazilian national team.
It seems Chelsea are aware of overpaying early on and have negotiated specific clauses based on appearances and minutes, perhaps delaying future bonuses they’ll have to pay for the youngster.
“Estêvão will only be handed over to Chelsea in the middle of the year,” he explained.
“The deal has been closed since 2024, but… The striker has already secured a bonus of R$25m for Verdão. The number is included in Palmeiras’ financial statement for 2024. All because he reached a target of more than 1,200 minutes of official matches for Verdão last season.
“A deal that was closed at the time for €40m fixed plus €21.5m in bonuses. These bonuses are linked to matches played by Palmeiras and also by Chelsea.
“Estêvão will guarantee Palmeiras these €21.5m in bonuses if he reaches seventy matches played for at least forty-five minutes.”
