Liverpool will return to action in the Merseyside derby against local rivals Everton tonight on the back of Carabao Cup heartbreak. Arne Slot's side lost 2-1 to Newcastle United at Wembley prior to March's international break.

However, they remain in an imperiously strong position to win the Premier League title for the first time since the 2019/2020 season - now sitting nine points above Arsenal with a game-in-hand. The Reds have been given a boost ahead of the clash with both Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate taking part training this week.

Meanwhile, England defender Joe Gomez also returned to the grass after missing the last three months with a hamstring issue. Everton, on the other hand, have been helped by returns for Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil.

Ndiaye limped off midway through the first half of the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park in February while McNeil hasn't played since a 4-0 victory over Wolves in December. However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss out.
