Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas has ended up on Liverpool’s agenda, according to this week’s edition of SportBild.
The 27-year-old has been at Gladbach since 2015 and was promoted to their first team a year later. He was out on loan at four different clubs between 2019 and 2023.
Nicolas has been the first-choice stopper for the Bundesliga club since last season and has made 20 appearances this season, keeping five clean sheets and conceding 27 goals.
Liverpool have monitored the German despite his injury. He picked up an adductor injury in Gladbach’s 2-1 win over Union Berlin February 15th and has been sidelined since then.
Fabian Otte joined Arne Slot’s backroom staff last summer, after spending three years at Mönchengladbach. It’s likely the Reds goalkeeping coaching would have recommended Liverpool to monitor Nicolas.
This link could help the Premier League club secure the German stopper’s services.
Last summer, Liverpool agreed a deal with Valencia for Giorgi Mamardashvili to arrive at Anfield in the summer of 2025. Alisson Becker has been the No.1 this season and it’s not yet clear as to where he will play next season.
Meanwhile, Caoimhin Kelleher has been linked with a move away from Anfield. If he were to leave, Nicolas could take his place in the Liverpool squad.
