'What Is Wrong With This Guy?' 'This Is A Joke' 'Sell Him' Chelsea Fans Fume As Maresca Delivers Shocking News

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Romeo Lavia has suffered yet another injury setback.

The exact nature of the problem is not known but speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the London derby against Tottenham, Maresca said:

β€œHe was doing better in terms of progress but unfortunately, one or two days ago he had a small problem, so we will see in the next hours.”

Lavia had only just returned to fitness, having spent several months on the sidelines with a hamstring injury and supporters on X have begun to lose patience with the midfielder:

Lavia’s injury nightmare continues

Since signing from Southampton for Β£58m at the start of the 2023/24 campaign, the Belgian international has only managed to make 14 appearances for the Blues.

Lavia has suffered 7 different injuries during his time at Stamford Bridge, which is all the more galling when you consider that his fitness record prior to his arrival was almost spotless.

When could the Chelsea star return to action?

At the moment, Maresca is refusing to put a timescale on Lavia’s comeback, which is a concern when you look at how long it has taken him to recover from past problems.

The manager has emphasised that this latest setback is a minor one but we shall have to wait and see whether that is in fact true.
