'£70M Will Go A Long Way' 'In Amorim We Trust' Fans React To Reports That United Boss Is Open To Selling Midfielder Linked With Chelsea Move

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is “not convinced” that Kobbie Mainoo can play in his system, according to reports.

The 19-year-old is one of the club’s brightest young players but the I Paper claims Amorim has doubts over whether he possesses the required fitness levels to be part of his midfield.

It is believed that the Red Devils would reluctantly seek a buyer for Mainoo this summer, with his asking price set at around £70m. While not everyone agrees that the player should be sold, many fans on X trust Amorim’s judgement:

I’m with the Gaffer on this, let’s cash in on him while we can.

£70m will go a long way to help the rebuild and also aid the process of getting the manager the right profiles needed for his idea. ✌️

Let’s go #MUFC

Don’t be reluctant for 70m

Look I love mainoo I really do but if Amorim doesn’t think he fits in the system then it is what it is imo

There's no smoke without fire. They're prepping Kobbie to leave.

Here's the thing. There's no space for him in the team with Amorims set up. Not 10, PIVOT, CF or WB…

If we sell at 70m, that's almost 200m for extra transfers in the summer with PCR regulations. Gotta sell.

Amorim doesn’t have a role for Mainoo

It is important to point out that since the manager’s appointment in November, he has deployed the teenager as a central midfielder, a wide forward and as a false nine.

Amorim has made it clear that he likes Mainoo “with the ball” when he has space to run into, but those comments may suggest he has questions about other aspects of his game.

Who could United sell him to?

The I Paper say that Chelsea remain interested in Mainoo, but previous reports have stated that the midfielder would prefer a move abroad if he does leave Old Trafford.

Ultimately, though, it will come down to who is willing to meet United’s price tag. For now, at least, the academy star is staying with the club.
