Cisse will host Gerrard and the likes of Didier Drogba and Robert Pires for his 'Jubilee' tribute game at first club Auxerre – the team he represented with distinction before winning the Champions League with Liverpool.

But sheepish Cisse has called in a favour to Gerrard despite leaving legend John Aldridge – Kenny Dalglish's assistant stunned over his histrionics.

Aldridge said: "For the first time ever we had a dispute, Djibril wasn't happy. We all thought he'd pulled up"

Cisse was left grimacing in pain before Dalglish pulled the plug on his afternoon but the Frenchman was visibly irate after he was removed from the action.

But Gerrard appears in a forgiving mood and will be in action in France.

Cisse said: "May 27 in Auxerre. He will be there, and you?", as he hyped up the move to sign up Gerrard
