Manchester City star Erling Haaland has made a three-word vow as he starts his road to recovery.

City boss Pep Guardiola revealed on Tuesday that Haaland is set to be out for between five and seven weeks after suffering an ankle injury during the win against Bournemouth in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Haaland is set to miss the majority of the rest of the season in what represents a significant blow for Guardiola's team.

The prolific striker is eager to recover as quickly as possible and posted a picture on social media of himself wearing a protective boot and lifting his crutches in the air.

Guardiola said: 'The doctors told me Erling Haaland will be out between five and seven weeks.

'Hopefully at the end of the season and World Cup he will be ready.'

Haaland could potentially miss the FA Cup final if his side are involved but may be available when City conclude their Premier League season away to Fulham on May 25.

The Norway international could also be able to take part in City's Club World Cup campaign, which is due to start in June.

Haaland wrote on social media: 'I'll be back'.

This season Haaland has scored 30 goals in 40 appearances for City across all competitions.

With Haaland unavailable there will now be much focus on Omar Marmoush, who signed for City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January.

Marmoush scored the winner against Bournemouth after coming on to replace Haaland.

City are back in Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host Leicester.

That will be followed by an intriguing derby clash away to Manchester United on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola's team will have to cope without Haaland for most of the rest of the season

Guardiola's team are in fifth place in the Premier League after struggling at times this season but they will be determined to conclude the season strongly.

Haaland's injury has effectively ended his chances of winning the Premier League golden boot this season - he has 21 goals but is six behind Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
