Pete O’Rourke reports for Football Insider that Norwich City are eyeing a move for Arsenal’s Nathan Butler-Oyedeji on a free transfer this summer.

Butler-Oyedeji has been a regular in Mikel Arteta’s first-team squads in recent months, even making his senior debut in the Champions League. But the player is out of contract this summer, opening up the possibility of a move as a free agent.

O’Rourke reports that Norwich City sporting director Ben Knapper is a big fan of Butler-Oyedeji from their time together at Arsenal.

Norwich City aren’t the only club in the mix. O’Rourke writes that a number of clubs in England and abroad are on alert, and League One Rotherham United showed an interest during the January transfer window.

But perhaps Norwich might represent a more attractive option to Butler-Oyedeji, allowing him to drop down just one division and work under people who already know him.

As well as Knapper, former Arsenal academy coach Jack Wilshere is currently an assistant coach for the first team in Norwich.

Excluding his brief first-team showing, Butler-Oyedeji has been playing for the Arsenal u21s this season. He’s scored or assisted 16 goals in 15 games, and almost added another goal against the Norwich u21s on Monday – hitting the bar.

With a few months to go on Butler-Oyedeji’s Arsenal deal, we should get further clarity on his future before too long.
