Shedeur Sanders is going to be one of the most talked about players in the NFL over the next few weeks leading up to the 2025 NFL draft.
In recent weeks, Sanders has seen his name anywhere from the top three to sliding all the way down to the 20's in the first round. No one truly knows where he will end up.
A lot of opinions have been flying about Sanders as well. Most recently, ESPN NFL draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. weighed in with his comparison for the Colorado standout quarterback.
Kiper's comparison is not one that Sanders will love. It's about as uninspiring as a hyped up prospect like Sanders can receive.
During a recent appearance on ESPN, Kiper compared Sanders to former New York Jets quarterback Chad Pennington.
"Chad Pennington would probably be my comp for Shedeur," Kiper said. "I loved Chad coming out (in 2000). I even had him top-five on the big board. He ended up going 18. He went 18 to the Jets. Ended up playing in Miami. Had a really great career. Was he a Hall of Famer? No. But could you get to a Super Bowl with Chad Pennington? Yeah, you could have if you had a supporting cast around him."

Throughout his college career, Sanders was viewed as a much bigger star than Pennington ever was. Some of that had to do with his popularity on social media, but his numbers were big as well.
He played two years for Jackson State and two years for Colorado, throwing for 14,347 yards, 134 touchdowns, and just 27 interceptions, while also completing 70.1% of his pass attempts.
With the draft set to begin on April 24, Sanders won't have to wait much longer to find out where he's going to be playing the first chapter of his professional career.
