Ruben Amorim told‘proper’Man Utd‘machine’is ready to play in‘spite of the pain,’his‘DNA’proves his elite mentality

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has a key first-team player who is built like a “proper machine” and his “mind and mentality” are on a different level.

Ruben Amorim has overseen a mixed start to life as Manchester United manager since he left Sporting CP in 2024 and arrived in the Old Trafford dugout.

The 40-year-old United manager succeeded Erik ten Hag at the Red Devils after the Dutchman was sacked by the Premier League club last October.

Amorim still has a chance to lift major silverware as United manager in the 2024-25 season after the Red Devils reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The Europa League campaign, which will resume against Lyon next Thursday, is also United’s best – and only – route back to the Champions League next season.

However, the Red Devils have still struggled with their Premier League campaign even after Erik ten Hag was dismissed as United manager in 2024.

United languish in 13th place in the Premier League table and Amorim’s side have only won 10 league matches from 30 fixtures in the current campaign.

The Red Devils were in action on Tuesday evening and United were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest in the Premier League clash at City Ground.

What Cristiano Giaretta said about Man Utd ace Bruno Fernandes shows his importance for Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford

Bruno Fernandes has seen an improvement in form for Manchester United in recent weeks and he still remains the Red Devils’ most influential player on the pitch.

The 30-year-old United captain is arguably the Red Devils’ best signing since iconic former manager Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out of Old Trafford in 2013.

Bruno Fernandes started his senior playing career at Italian side Novara before he left the club and made the move to Serie A outfit Udinese.

Cristiano Giaretta was sporting director at Udinese and Novara in Italy and he highlighted Fernandes’ elite mentality when it came to dealing with injuries.

“If Bruno was injured, he would say, ‘Don’t check, I just need tape on the ankle,’” he said, as per The Daily Mail.

“He had this in his DNA. It’s not only about the quality with Bruno. It’s about his mind and mentality.

“He never gives up. He has injections in spite of the pain because he wants to be present on the pitch.

“To play games, to recover and to prevent injury, you have to be like a machine. Bruno is a proper machine.”

Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim’s position on Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford could not be clearer

Speaking ahead of United’s defeat to Nottingham Forest, Ruben Amorim ruled out Bruno Fernandes leaving the club amid speculation linking him with Real Madrid.

“No, it’s not going to happen [Fernandes moving to Real Madrid],” he said at his press conference on Monday.

When discussing Fernandes, United manager Amorim added: “He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him.”

United will be back in action on Sunday with their Premier League clash against Manchester City, with kick-off for the Manchester derby slated for 4:30pm UK time.
