**DayofPal**– Israeli forces launched a targeted strike on a police unit in the central Gaza Strip, killing two officers and wounding five others.
The attack, which occurred as officers were engaged in efforts to maintain order amid the ongoing genocide, has been met with sharp condemnation from Gaza’s Ministry of Interior.
The ministry identified the deceased as Captain Murid Mohammed Farajallah and Lieutenant Younis Mohammed Al-Masharfa, denouncing the strike as a deliberate assault on law enforcement personnel.
In a strongly worded statement, the ministry asserted that the attack aligns with broader efforts to destabilize Gaza and further exacerbate the already dire humanitarian situation.
Despite these losses, the ministry vowed to persevere in its mission, emphasizing the critical role of law enforcement in preventing chaos. It also called on the international community to exert pressure on Israel to cease attacks on police forces, which, under international law, are classified as civilian protection services.
The airstrike on the police unit formed part of an expansive wave of Israeli bombardments that have claimed the lives of at least 70 people since morning.
Entire families were killed as airstrikes reduced homes and refugee shelters to rubble. The majority of the victims were children, amplifying concerns over the devastating toll on civilians.
Among the most harrowing incidents was a strike on a United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) clinic in Jabalia, which killed 22 people, including 16 children and elderly residents.
Concurrent air raids in Khan Younis and Rafah resulted in 32 additional casualties. Meanwhile, further strikes in central Gaza and Gaza City left several more dead, including a civilian who was shot by Israeli troops in Al-Shuja’iya.
The targeting of police forces has heightened the vulnerability of Gaza’s civilian population, intensifying the Strip’s humanitarian crisis. As global appeals for de-escalation grow louder, Israeli military operations show no indication of abating, leaving Gaza’s residents in a state of deepening despair.
