Strasbourg have an attacker who's above Chelsea target for one stat, he only cost them£1.7m

A lot of Strasbourg supporters are not happy with being part of a multi-club model alongside Chelsea.

There have even been protests against Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali‘s BlueCo, the parent company of both Strasbourg and Chelsea.

Yet under the ownership of Boehly and Eghbali, Strasbourg have been able to build a very nice team that is being led by a really talented manager in Liam Rosenior.

Rosenior currently has the French club sitting sixth in the Ligue 1 table, just three points off the Champions League places, with the likes of Andrey Santos, Djordje Petrovic and Diego Moreira all playing their part.

Diego Moreira above Jamie Gittens for most successful dribbles since start of 2025

Santos and Petrovic are at Strasbourg on loan from Chelsea, but Le Racing were able to sign Moreira from their sister club on a permanent deal last summer.

Moreira cost Strasbourg £1.7m, which is virtually nothing. It was a great deal for the Ligue 1 outfit, especially considering the way the winger is playing.

According to WhoScored, since the beginning of 2025, Moreira has made 34 successful dribbles. That is more than what Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens has managed and leaves him only behind Lamine Yamal and Jeremy Doku in Europe’s top five leagues.

Most successful dribbles in Europe's top five leagues since the beginning of 2025:

◉ 62 – Lamine Yamal

◎ 47 – Jérémy Doku

◎ 34 – Diego Moreira

◎ 34 – Jamal Musiala

◎ 33 – Jamie Gittens

Moreira has also scored one goal and provided six assists in 26 Ligue 1 appearances, which is really not bad for a 20-year-old.

Chelsea are thought to be interested in Gittens, but it looks like they may have already had a dribbler as good as the Dortmund star.

How Chelsea could sign Jamie Gittens this summer

Whatever the case, Chelsea have now moved on from Moreira and could sign Gittens when the transfer window opens.

Before then, Chelsea could buy Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, and with Dortmund said to be interested in the 25-year-old, there is no reason why the Blues cannot offer him in some kind of swap deal for Gittens. It is perhaps something to keep an eye on this summer.
