Remember when it looked like the Cincinnati Bengals might get a deal done for Trey Hendrickson?
Boy, does that feel like a lifetime ago.
On Tuesday, an interview between Katie Blackburn and The Cincinnati Enquirer was released, where she made some not-great comments about the ongoing contract talks with Hendrickson.
Then on Wednesday, Hendrickson gave his response during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
“Those comments from Katie Blackburn were definitely disappointing, and communication has been poor over the last couple of months,” he said, adding he thought/hoped the article was some kind of April Fool’s joke.
The interview included several key points:
Hendrickson said it was communicated to him that he would get a new deal this offseason by the Bengals.
He doesn’t need to be the highest-paid player at his position.
Communication, which Hendrickson puts high value on, has been poor over the last couple of months.
The Bengals have not communicated with Hendrickson’s agent directly.
Hendrickson was asked about a deadline to get a deal done, but he didn’t have one.
Hendrickson doesn’t want to play on a short-term contract, so it doesn’t look like he’ll be signing a one or two-year extension.

It's been a little bit frustrating & if they have anything they'd like to discuss we're definitely willing to listen" ~ Trey Hendrickson #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/C9PUdfKewj

Hendrickson deserves better than this. He deserves better than Bengals ownership.
