“Dropping Like Flies” | West Ham Given David Transfer Boost

**West Ham** are gradually creeping up the list of realistic destinations for Lille striker Jonathan David, [Claret & Hugh](https://www.claretandhugh.info/category/news/) has learnt today.

The Canadian international is available on a free [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) this summer and is already eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside France.

David’s agent, Nikos Mavromaras, has held talks with Hammers boss Graham Potter and is said to be impressed with the manager’s footballing vision. West Ham are also understood to have tabled an attractive financial package, although we’re informed it’s in line with other offers from Serie A clubs.

Speaking to a well-placed transfer source today, C&H were told:

“It could still happen because other clubs are dropping like flies. Barcelona are out, and so are Arsenal who have big striker plans. Chelsea aren’t interested and neither are Liverpool—so yeah, West Ham have a chance.”

The source added:

“He’s a £50–60m player and West Ham will have to pay, but he’ll want to know who is going to supply chances for him before committing.”

That final point could be crucial. With West Ham’s attacking issues being well discussed today—and just one shot on target in the defeat to Wolves—it’s clear that any serious move for David must also be backed by a plan to fix the supply line.

Still, with several heavyweights now stepping aside, West Ham suddenly find themselves in the mix for a striker of serious pedigree.
