Manchester United have reportedly shown no interest in bringing midfielder Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford for a third stint at the club.
Pogba came to a mutually agreed exit from Juventus in December following a 15-month absence from professional football. The Frenchman was initially banned for four years after he tested positive for the banned substance DHEA.
The substance can increase the growth of testosterone in the body and, as such, it is banned by the World Anti-doping Agency (WADA). On appeal, Pogba's suspension was reduced to 18 months after the authorities came to the verdict that he had not intentionally taken the substance.
Officially, Pogba could have started playing football again last month when his ban came to an end. However, he has been unable to find a new club at this stage.
United were linked with a reunion, and Mason Greenwood insisted that he would be happy for his former teammate to join him at Marseille. However, neither move is likely according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
In a post on his YouTube channel, the journalist claimed that the president at Marseille - Pablo Longoria - had been offered the opportunity to sign Pogba but had rejected the offer. As for United, the 32-year-old has not entered the club's discussions and Romano could "guarantee" that he would not be signing for the Reds.
Instead, United were looking to target young players with high future potential as they look to reverse the transfer mistakes of the past. Another club linked to Pogba in December and January - Manchester City - are also claimed to have "no interest" in the Frenchman either.
Pogba has recently been spending time in Miami and he has watched David Beckham-owned Inter Miami in person leading to speculation he could join the MLS franchise. However, he has also suggested that he would like to return to the French national team in the future and doing so while playing domestically in America would be difficult.
