Chelsea, Liverpool front-runners to sign beat Aston Villa, Tottenham to 24-year-old Euro 2024…

Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly the favourites to sign 24-year-old English international Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, Crystal Palace will likely lose Marc Guehi in the summer transfer window. Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the English international, with Chelsea and Liverpool being the favourites to secure his services.

The rise of Marc Guehi as a Premier League force

Marc Guehi has been one of the best defenders in the Premier League since joining Crystal Palace from Chelsea in July 2021. The Englishman has come leaps and bounds in the last three and a half years, with his exploits helping him establish a foothold in his national squad.

The 24-year-old was part of the team that reached the UEFA Euro 2024 final last year. Meanwhile, Guehi has turned out nearly 150 times thus far for Crystal Palace while chipping in with eight goals and four assists. The player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Premier League bigwigs like Aston Villa, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur vying for his signature going into the summer transfer window.

A man in demand

Aston Villa might dip into the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window amid Tyrone Mings’s advancing age. In addition, Axel Disasi will likely return to Chelsea after his loan deal ends. So, Guehi has emerged as a viable target for Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in the English international is understandable.

The West London club will likely part ways with Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, and Trevoh Chalobah in the summer transfer window. So, Marc Guehi is an option worth considering for Chelsea. As for Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk has entered the final few months of his contract, while Joe Gomez has struggled with fitness issues.

So, Liverpool must sign a centre-back, with Guehi emerging as a target. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur wanted to secure the 24-year-old Englishman’s services in the winter transfer window and will pursue him this summer. With widespread reports linking Cristian Romero with La Liga clubs, the Crystal Palace skipper is a viable option for Tottenham.

However, Tottenham and Aston Villa are behind Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to secure the English international defender’s services in the summer transfer window. It will be interesting to see where the Euro 2024 finalist lands in the coming months.
