Liverpool fans were sent into a frenzy on Wednesday after a suggestive picture of Mohamed Salah made the rounds on social media.
Apart from hoping that the Premier League title will be won this season, Liverpool fans are also desperate to see Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold sign contract extensions at the club.
As things stand, the trio are set to leave at the end of this season when their current deals expire.
However, there appears to be an end of the road for Alexander-Arnold, who is reportedly leaning towards a move to Real Madrid. Last week, reports widely circulated that the 26-year-old has all but agreed to a deal to join the Spanish club.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has a genuine interest in Salah. According to a recent report from the Telegraph, Saudi Pro League chiefs believe they can lure Salah into joining them this season.
“The Saudi Pro League remain confident that Mo Salah is open to joining them,” the Telegraph’s chief football correspondent, Jason Burt, claimed.
“A senior source insisted that Salah “remains interested” in SPL & although he has prioritised hearing what LFC have to offer, he believes that Salah will be signed this summer when his deal expires.”
Al Hilal, the reigning Saudi Pro League champions, have emerged as strong contenders for Salah’s signature. The club is reportedly prepared to offer the 32-year-old a lucrative two-year contract worth £65 million (approximately €77 million) per year.
However, despite those reports, those closer to the situation at Liverpool claim that Salah is keen on remaining at Liverpool, where he enjoys top-level coaching and has the chance to keep playing and breaking records at the top level.
With speculation over his future at fever pitch, Salah’s supposed activity on Wednesday has sent Liverpool fans into a frenzy.
A picture of the 32-year-old in complete Liverpool kit, reportedly filming a video at the docks, generated a lot of buzz on social media. Many fans concluded that he was recording his Liverpool contract extension video.
While it is fair to expect Liverpool fans to get excited over a video of Salah filming in the docks, the Egyptian’s history makes tempering expectations the wiser choice here.
Salah’s global appeal and celebrity status mean that he is often involved in commercials and promotional videos. His latest activity on the docks could be one of those videos. Or it could also be the news Liverpool fans have all been waiting for.
