Ja Morant Breaks Silence After NBA Launches Investigation

On Wednesday, NBA insider Shams Charania announced that the NBA has launched an investigation and will look into Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant using a finger gun motion during the team's loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday.

The Grizzlies guard was suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023-24 season due to showing a gun on social media. That was Morant's second suspension in three months at that point.

Following Charania's news about the NBA launching an investigation, Morant took to social media to break his silence and send a four-word message: "ja this .. ja that .. "

So far, there have been no updates following Charania's initial report. However, Grizzlies fans will want to monitor the situation closely, especially given the team's current standing.

With only a couple of weeks remaining in the regular season, the Grizzlies are 44-32 and own the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. After ranking as high as the No. 2 seed in 2025, the Grizzlies have trended downwards and are now in danger of ending the regular season as a Play-In team.

The Grizzlies are 2-8 in their last 10 games and have lost each of their last four. Additionally, they are just 0.5 games ahead of the No. 8 seed Los Angeles Clippers in the standings.

On paper, the Grizzlies are one of the top teams in the West. However, most of their success rides on Morant's presence. If he is unavailable for any period of time, the Grizzlies' season may be over sooner rather than later.
