Jordan Pickford is no stranger to winding up opposition players and he left Darwin Nunez furious in Everton’s 1-0 loss to Liverpool.

The Blues has dented their local rivals’ title hopes earlier in the season with a late James Tarkowski strike but it was not to be the same outcome on this occasion.

Diogo Jota slotted the ball past the England stopper to take the Reds closer to the Premier League title and consign David Moyes‘ side to a first defeat in ten league matches.

Pickford leaves Nunez raging with actions v Liverpool

With the game still within the Blues’ grasp, Darwin Nunez thought he was through on goal and he was taken down by Pickford in the penalty area.

However, referee Sam Barratt had already blown the whistle for an earlier incident and nothing was awarded although the Reds star did receive a booking for his actions after the clash.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

Stephen Warnock has revealed that Nunez was furious with the former Sunderland man for his role in the coming together.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live (2 April, 21:49 pm), said: “Jordan Pickford has clattered into Darwin Nunez and he’s kicked through his shin. Nunez is furious with Pickford.”

Everton need to bounce back after Liverpool loss

The Toffees will be disappointed with the result as they created numerous chances to beat or draw with their arch-rivals and dent their title hopes again.

Beto had the most glorious effort when he found his way through Slot’s side and hit the post with just Caoimhim Kelleher to beat with the scores still level.

However, Moyes can still take encouragement from the performance as the Blues took the league leaders all the way and were unlucky to not come up with a positive result.

There was not much that Pickford could have done for the only goal of the contest, as it was a genius finish from Jota that left him dumbfounded.

One thing that he does need to change though is the reckless challenges, despite the whistle going stopping play, it was still a dangerous tackle and under different circumstances could have got him in trouble, and it is not the first time that he has done it as he did it against Chelsea earlier in the season.
