Matheus Cunha is ready to leave Wolves in the summer for a bigger team, amid big emerging interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool.
According to Football Insider, Matheus Cunha is ready to push for a move away from Wolves in the close season. The Brazilian attacker with a £62.5 million release clause has emerged as a big target for Arsenal and Liverpool ahead of the summer window, as he seeks a bigger challenge to further his career.
Matheus Cunha has been in the news due to his comments in the media which effectively pointed at his desire to play for a bigger team. The Brazilian attacker stated he wants to challenge for honours and titles next season, which could see him leave Wolves in the summer.
Cunha was the subject of a departure from Wolves in January, where he stirred up a storm after verbally committing to a new deal but then stalled on signing it. Wolves eventually got the renewal over the line, although the new contract included a £62.5 million release clause, which will be active in the summer.
There are a host of clubs interested with Nottingham Forest making an offer in January while the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham have also considered a move. However, the biggest suitors are likely to be Liverpool and Arsenal, with the duo certainly interested in the £62.5 million-rated Premier League attacker.
Wolves are resigned to losing him in the close season, with Cunha now green-lighting a move to one of the bigger clubs probably within the Premier League. Liverpool are interested, as they view Cunha as a potential replacement for the misfiring Darwin Nunez, as they are in a strong financial position to pay for the £62.5 million-rated Premier League attacker.
Arsenal and Liverpool to battle for Matheus Cunha?
While Liverpool are a solid enough suitor for Cunha, as they could fulfill his desires to win trophies and major honours. However, the Merseysiders face a big threat in the form of Arsenal, with new sporting director Andrea Berta keen on the attacker.
Berta was the one who signed Cunha at Atletico Madrid, and one might assume he has good relations with the player and his camp. Overall, the summer window could see the Brazilian leave Wolves and make his move across to one of the big Premier League sides.
