Should Arsenal sign this€290,000-per-week right-winger when they already have Saka?

Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich playing for Germany

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Pletternberg, Arsenal have held concrete talks with Leroy Sane who looks to be on his way out of Bayern Munich.

Sane’s contract expires in the summer of 2025 and as things stand, the German international is not being offered a new deal despite him lowering his wage demands. The Bayern management appears divided regarding offering a fresh contract to someone who’s soon going to be 30 years old.

Florian has said: “There have been, and still are, internal sceptics about Leroy Sane’s contract extension. However, his performances and commitment are increasingly being recognised. Max Eberl continues negotiations, and Sane is willing to accept a pay cut. No written offer from Bayern yet – the club must now make a move. Sane wants to stay, with a decision expected within 1-3 weeks.

“Arsenal are seriously interested in signing him as a free agent in the summer. Concrete talks have already taken place!”

Should Arsenal invest in Leroy Sane?

Leroy Sane will be available on a free transfer at the end of this season and his experience can come really handy for Mikel Arteta as Arsenal try to challenge Liverpool for the Premier League title next season.

In recent seasons, Arsenal have continuously fallen short of grabbing the top spot and it’s high time that the Gunners invest in players who have experience of winning major trophies.

Sane had played 135 games for Manchester City and since 2020, the winger has featured in more than 200 games for Bayern Munich. In 211 matches, Leroy Sane has made 109 goal contributions and despite entering the final year of his contract, the winger has featured in 23 Bundesliga games.

The 29-year-old is primarily a right-winger which means he can not only provide cover to Bukayo Saka but at the same time, he is also very comfortable with playing on the left-hand side. During his four years with the Bavarians, Leroy Sane has played as a left-winger 69 times.

There have been speculations that Mikel Arteta wanting to find a replacement for the underwhelming Gabriel Martinelli and a player like Leroy Sane can be the ideal solution to all these problems.

Since he is available as a free agent, Sane will obviously demand a higher salary than he is currently earning but we believe Arsenal should accept this and bring him onboard.

Kai Havertz is currently the club’s highest earner at €328,500-per-week and even if Leroy Sane takes that position, it will be worth the gamble.
