Moyes unhappy with Liverpool winner and claims officials missed ‘easy’ decision

David Moyes was left angry with the decision to award Liverpool’s winner against his Everton side because of what he felt was a clear offside.

Diogo Jota netted in the second half to secure victory for the Reds at Anfield as they moved a step closer to being crowned Premier League champions.

But Moyes was unhappy that the goal stood, with Luis Diaz in an offside position when the ball was played before it came back to Jota to finish.

Diaz did not touch the ball, with the pass intercepted by Tarkowski before it could reach him, but Moyes felt the Liverpool forward did enough to interfere with the play and knock his defender off balance.

“He’s offside,” Moyes said.

“I’ve not sought an explanation but I’ve said to them that I’m disappointed.

“I think it’s quite an easy one to give as well because all of our players are sort of holding on the 18-yard line and Diaz comes from behind and effects Tarkowski from behind clearly.

“I’m really surprised it wasn’t given. Or maybe I’m not surprised.”

Pushed on why he said he was not surprised by the decision to award the goal, Moyes explained: “I don’t think there’s many managers that come here and think that they’ll get loads of decisions at Anfield generally.

“That’s my opinion. And this was one tonight which I think is quite easy. He’s along the line and it’s really easy to give offside. Very, very easy.

“I’m not quite sure how good the linesmen did their jobs tonight generally. I think there was some early flags, some late flags, I didn’t think they did particularly well.”
