Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United are among those interested in signing highly-rated Como winger Assane Diao in the summer.
According to Caught Offside, Assane Diao is a name high on the list of a host of Premier League teams. The Como winger has suitors from England with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United eager to land the 19-year-old Serie A attacking prodigy in the summer.
Cesc Fabregas has done a fabulous job at Como since taking over as their manager and majorly influencing the transfer strategy. Some of the signings in the summer included Nico Paz and Assane Diao, with the duo shining under the progressive Spanish manager.
Diao in particular, has had a positive impact with the team, scoring five times in Serie A this season, as well as being an influential player on the pitch for most parts. Como are somewhat relaxed about the 19-year-old Serie A attacking prodigy’s future amid a host of Premier League clubs showing an interest.
Como will demand a huge fee to sell Diao should the next step dictate they sell the winger despite their hopes of keeping him. Diao has a contract until 2029, which does put the ball in the Italian’s court, as a host of Premier League sides are showing an interest ahead of the summer.
Liverpool and Newcastle United are interested, as the latter are intent on landing a young wide attacking talent to their ranks. The Magpies have a gap on the right wing that Eddie Howe wants to solve in the summer, as Diao is among the players he has considered a big option for the team.
Liverpool and Manchester United to battle for Assane Diao
Liverpool’s interest in Diao will depend on what transpires for Mohamed Salah’s future, with the Egyptian still not clear on whether he will stay or leave. In any case, the Reds are well stocked in the attacking side of their squad, which will not guarantee an important place for Diao should the 19-year-old Serie A attacking prodigy make the move to Anfield.
Manchester United are the other club interested in the 19-year-old, as Ruben Amorim could once again look at the Serie A market for solutions following their signing of Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in January. Diao is certainly a talent that will attract a lot of interest, and it remains to be seen whether either of those three teams manage to land him in the close season.
